Fight cancer with creativity and style.
it all started
when three of my best friends were diagnosed with cancer I suddenly had to use my craft to create wigs for women facing hair loss through chemo. I have seen saw the desperation going along with that process, the loss of identity and femininity. The distress of losing their hair was horrible. A close friend of mine died last year on her second treatment of cancer. That got me to a point where I felt that I wanted to do something to help.
The result is V for Victory
an initiative that will be guiding women through the scary process of being diagnosed, starting chemo, losing their hair, having to shave it off and getting a wig. I want them to understand what is going to happen, to have them try on wigs before their hair is falling out and thus take their fear of being bold away. I want to give them beauty guidance as well as emotional support.
Another part of the V for Victory initiative will be sponsoring programs with the goal to provide women with affordable wigs.
Companies can give away wigs to women who need them, and hairdressers donate their time to cut and color the wigs.
This leads to the second pillar, which is The Wig Whisper, an education program that wants to teach hairdressers all over the world how to deal with wigs. How to color, cut and fit them. Experience has shown that sometimes even the best hairdressers haven’t got a clue how to work with wigs, as wigs and natural hair are completely different things. This is why i want to share my knowledge by teaching, be it through classes, tutorials or online support.
